32 kms. on the Jaisalmer road is located the Gajner wild life sanctuary surrounded by hillocks. Gajner Palace, a summer resort of kings built on the beautiful lake along the sanctuary has been converted into a hotel. Migratory birds like the Imperial Sand Grouse make the Gajner Lake their home during the winters.

Fauna:  Wooded hills and lakes surround the lush green forest. One can easily spot a Blue Bull, Chinkara, Nilgai, Black Buck or flocks of Sand Grouse and Wild Boar living in the sanctuary. The wildlife sanctuary amidst lush green surrounding on the road to Jaisalmer, is a haven for waterfowls, which flock here in large numbers. The Pink sandstone palace reflects beautifully in waters of the lake. The palace has been converted into a heritage hotel.
