Mudumalai Sanctuary is situated in the hills of Nilgiri and offers a picturesque view of Mother Nature. The sanctuary comprises of various hills, ravines, valleys, swamps and watercourses. The beautiful Moyar River cuts its way and flows through the sanctuary. Due to the Moyar River various small waterfalls are formed here and there that makes the beauty of the nature more enchanting. Below given are various attributes of the sanctuary that makes it a perfect place for tourists.

Flora- The sanctuary has a varied type of vegetation that comprises of various plants & trees that are hard to find somewhere else. The sanctuary consists of wet deciduous forests and dense mixed forests that includes grewia, terminalia, bamboos, crenulata, solanancea, anogeissus latifolia, teak and many more.
Fauna- The sanctuary shelters various species of animals like elephants, banner, gaur, macaque, sloth bear, python, sambar, hyena, crocodiles, jackal, hare, spotted deer, giant flying squirrel, wild dog, mongoose, barking deer and many more.
Avifauna- Good news for birdwatchers! One can see wide array of local birds as well as the migratory birds that travel to this place for nesting & breeding purposes. Some of the birds seen here are spotted babbler, grey patridge quails, peacock, red spur fowl, Malabar grey hornbill, magpie-robin, brown dove, eagles, harriers, green pigeons, hawks, etc.

One can find lodging at Theppakkadu, where there is a rest house. One can travel by train up to Ooty (64kms) or by air till Coimbatore (160 km)
